Nigeria Police Capture Notorious Arms Dealer and Detain Over 1,000 Suspects Nationwide.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced that it has arrested over 1,000 suspects nationwide since October 1, 2024.According to police spokesperson ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, this nationwide operation targeted various offenses, including armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, illegal possession of firearms, and cult-related activities.
Among those arrested was a notable arms dealer named Jubril Musa, who was captured in Plateau State. He was allegedly supplying weapons to armed groups in northern Nigeria and was found in possession of numerous firearms, ammunition, and other illegal weapons.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of 210 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and more than 100 stolen vehicles, as well as the rescue of 64 kidnapping victims.“The suspect confessed to supplying arms and ammunition to bandits and kidnappers in the state. The Inspector General of Police has reassured the public of the NPF’s commitment to improving safety and security in the country.
This involves implementing various tactical operations, intelligence-led policing, and engaging with communities.These efforts aim to significantly reduce crime rates across Nigeria, highlighting the NPF’s progress in tackling violent crimes such as banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cybercrime,” stated ACP Adejobi.
