NDE Empowers 2,440 Through Renewed Hope Employment Initiative
The acting coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Sokoto State, Lookman Abubakar, has announced that the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative aims to provide vocational, agricultural, and entrepreneurial training to 2,440 unskilled and unemployed individuals in the state.
Abubakar stated that the program will select ten beneficiaries from each of the 244 council wards in Sokoto State to participate in the initiative.He further explained that the NDE’s Public Works Sector will offer the beneficiaries training in over 30 different skills of their choice, equipping them with practical knowledge.
“This job creation initiative, aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, will not only provide start-up capital, equipment, and tools after the training, but will also connect other participants with financial institutions for loans to start medium or large-scale businesses,” Abubakar added.In a related statement, NDE’s Director General, Silas Agara, revealed that the organization plans to engage 93,731 unskilled and unemployed Nigerians across the country as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Lookman Abubakar also highlighted some of the skills that participants can choose to learn, which include leatherwork, fashion design, phone and hardware repairs, beauty therapy, electrical installation, carpentry, plumbing, tie-and-dye, interior decoration, and hairdressing.
