Makinde wins Governor of the Year Award

Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has been honoured with the 2021 Governor of the Year Award in Security and Youth Empowerment.
Makinde hailed the resilience and innovative spirit of Oyo State youths, noting that his administration’s efforts in tackling youth unemployment and insecurity had been yielding positive results
Makinde, who said this while receiving the Award which was organised by the Leadership Excellence Awards, added that the state has equally utilised sport development, agribusiness development and massive support for Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) to empower the youth demography in the state.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Taiwo Adisa on Wednesday indicated that the governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Honourable Segun Ogunwuyi, equally dedicated the award to the “resilient and innovative youths of Oyo State.”
He said: “It is a huge honour for me to receive this award on behalf of the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, FNSE, as the Governor of the year 2021 in the areas of Security and Youth Empowerment.
“As a state, we have identified the critical nexus between youth unemployment and insecurity, hence the various efforts and interventions of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State.
“Asides the innovative interventions in our security architecture, we have utilised sports development, agribusiness and MSME support to empower the vibrant youth demography in our State. This has yielded tremendous results for the benefit of the teeming populace.
“On behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde (the God-Sent Man), I thank you for this honour and this award is dedicated to the teeming youths and citizenry of Oyo State.
“I thank you all.”
