Maj-Gen Oluyede Takes Office as Acting Army Chief Written by Nafisat Abdulrahman 17 mins ago Major General Olufemi Oluyede has officially assumed the role of acting Chief of Army Staff. He was appointed to this position on Wednesday by President Bola Tinubu to replace Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the current Chief of Army Staff, until his return.
During the ceremony on Friday, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa emphasized that the President has the authority to make such appointments in consultation with the CDS. General Musa assured that Major General Oluyede has the full authority to act as Chief of Army Staff, despite the temporary nature of his role, noting the special circumstances surrounding the appointment.
In his address, Maj.-Gen. Oluyede expressed his gratitude to God and the President for the opportunity and committed to fulfilling his responsibilities until Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja returns.
