Lagos DSVA arrests depraved father for assaulting son over incapability to recite Al-Quran
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has arrested a depraved father for allegedly assaulting his son over his incapability to recite the Al-Quran.
The agency said it received a report from a mandated reporter of an 11-year-old boy (names withheld) who was physically assaulted by his father.
The name of the boy’s father was simply given as Shakirullah.
The Agency, in a statement, issued by Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, said the father allegedly meted out this assault on the survivor because he had not been able to recite the Quran.
“Following the repeated assault on the child by the father, he has been diagnosed with hematuria, 2 episodes of sudden loss of conscious bleeding from the ears and nostrils,” the agency said.
The agency added that the alleged perpetrator is currently in detention at Meiran Divisional Police Station while the child is receiving medical attention, facilitated by the Ministry of Health and the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board.
The Agency advised that all cases of abuse, assault and sexual violence should be reported for justice to be served through its toll free line 0-8000-333-333.
