JUST IN: IPOB Warns Igbo Youths to Avoid Nigerian Army Recruitment or Face Consequences
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a stern warning to Igbo youths, urging them not to participate in the ongoing recruitment drive by the Nigerian Army. The group cautioned that any youth who ignores this warning risks becoming a “sacrificial lamb.”
In a statement released on Saturday by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group emphasized its opposition to Igbo youths joining the Nigerian Army, claiming the institution harbors no goodwill towards Ndigbo and Biafrans.
“The Nigerian State is not for Ndigbo and Biafrans,” the statement declared, adding that it would be dangerous for any Igbo individual to enlist in an organization whose objectives allegedly include harming their community.
Drawing parallels to previous calls for Biafran youths to avoid military involvement in international conflicts, the statement further advised youths to reject the current Nigerian Army recruitment, which it described as nepotistic.
IPOB warned that those who join the army out of desperation for employment will bear the consequences of their decision: “Avoid the Nigerian Army recruitment or perish in your ignorance.”
