Jamb Releases 2025 Utme Results, Withholds Over 39,000 Due To Alleged Malpractice

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), but withheld the results of 39,834 candidates due to alleged involvement in various forms of exam malpractice.

At a press conference held at JAMB headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede stated that 80 individuals are under investigation, with Anambra State topping the list of offenders. He confirmed that 96 candidates were directly implicated in malpractice cases—fewer than the 123 recorded last year—while 1,426 results remain under review.

Prof. Oloyede highlighted several irregularities, including identity theft, biometric fraud, and impersonation, particularly during the registration process. He revealed that 2,157 candidates failed fingerprint verification due to irregularities linked to their registration, and 3,656 others were affected by cases where CBT centres manipulated fingerprints to allow impersonation.

In a disturbing trend, 244 candidates were caught participating in “WhatsApp runs,” a digital cheating method, leading to the suspension of their results. Several CBT centres were implicated in aiding malpractice or technical shortcomings. Among those blacklisted were Tigh Technologies Limited and Sascon International School in Abuja, Wudil Computer Centre in Kano, and Penta M & Centre 2 in Sokoto.

Four additional centres were delisted for poor technical performance: Adventure Associate in Kano, Saadatu Rimi College of Education in Zaria, Soronara Ventures in Imo, and HSS Amazing in Ogun State.

Oloyede also revealed that 41,027 underage candidates participated in this year’s exam, with 467 scoring commendably. However, one of them was disqualified for cheating. Of the 501 candidates who took the test under JAMB’s Equal Opportunity initiative for persons with disabilities, one was found guilty of impersonation.

Despite the issues, Prof. Oloyede described the 2025 UTME as one of the most efficiently conducted so far. He reaffirmed JAMB’s commitment to curbing malpractice and safeguarding the credibility of the examination system.

Candidates can access their results by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 via their registered phone numbers. The portal for printing results will be activated in the coming days.
