“It’s Not IPOB” – Governor Alex Otti Identifies Those Behind Gunmen Attacks in Abia State
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has identified opposition politicians, allegedly with external support, as the masterminds behind the recent wave of insecurity in the state. This revelation comes in response to a series of violent attacks, including assaults on security personnel, which have unsettled residents and authorities.
While the Nigerian government previously blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the unrest, the group has consistently denied involvement. Governor Otti, through his media aide Ferdinand Ekeoma, absolved IPOB and instead accused opposition politicians of sponsoring the violence to create chaos and distract his administration from its developmental agenda.
The violence, which reportedly began in late May, is described by Otti as part of a calculated strategy to disrupt governance and foster instability. “The sole agenda is to cause disaffection and distract the government from its focus on the development of the state,” Otti stated.
He assured the public that his administration is launching a “counter-offensive” to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace. “The government will not sit idly by and watch any person or group unleash violence on innocent and peace-loving citizens,” the governor declared.
Otti reiterated his commitment to safeguarding the state’s peace and continuing efforts to improve the lives of its residents despite the challenges.
