Imo Police Mobilize Security Forces in Response to Alleged IPOB Sit-at-Home Order for Public Safety
In response to a recent directive allegedly issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), calling for a two-day sit-at-home on October 21 and 22, the Imo State Police Command, in coordination with the Armed Forces and other security agencies, has deployed personnel to key locations in and around the state capital to ensure public safety and protect lives and property.
ASP Henry Okoye, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, issued a statement explaining that the Police, alongside other security forces, are conducting ‘Show of Force Operations and Confidence Building Patrols’ throughout the state to address the alleged IPOB threat. The Police Command labeled the sit-at-home order as illegal, urging residents to continue their daily routines without fear or disruption.
Starting from October 19 and continuing until October 23, increased visibility patrols will be carried out by security personnel across the state. In addition, detectives will engage in reconnaissance to gather useful intelligence, aiming to boost public confidence and ensure law and order are maintained.
The Command encouraged citizens to stay calm, remain vigilant, and go about their regular activities while being mindful of their surroundings and potential threats.
Residents were further advised to be alert and report any suspicious behavior in their communities to the nearest police station or contact the emergency line at 08034773600 for assistance.
Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, expressed gratitude to the people of Imo State for their continued cooperation and reassured them that their safety remains the top priority. He called for collective efforts to maintain peace and security within the state.
