Immigration Officer Who Rejected ₦10m Bribe Attends Governor Otti’s Grand Reception – Igbokwe Shares

Ugochukwu Orji, the Nigerian Immigration officer widely praised for turning down a ₦10 million bribe from a native doctor fleeing justice in Enugu, was among the notable guests at a high-profile reception honoring Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.

The event, which drew a mix of political leaders, dignitaries, and supporters, served not only to commend Governor Otti’s leadership but also to spotlight citizens who embody integrity and public service.
Orji, who hails from Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area in Abia State, received a warm welcome from Rt. Hon. Ginger O. Onwusibe, the lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency.
In a Facebook update, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Joe Igbokwe highlighted Orji’s presence, writing: “The Immigration Officer Ugochukwu Orji who rejected N10m Bribe from Enugu Native Doctor has arrived Venue of the Grand Reception in honour of Governor Alex Otti.”
The officer’s principled stand against corruption has not only won him the admiration of the state government but also sparked plans for a community-based recognition in his hometown. His action is being hailed as a rare but powerful example of integrity in a time when public confidence in institutions is often shaken by corruption scandals.
As tributes flowed in during the event, Orji remained modest, using his presence as a quiet reminder that doing what is right matters — even when no one is watching. His story has since resonated nationwide, inspiring many young Nigerians to prioritize ethics in their careers and public life.
