Governors’ Forum Set to Launch Girl-Child Education Advocacy Initiative
The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) is set to launch the Girl-child Education Volunteers’ Advocates (GICEVA) initiative as part of efforts to enhance girl-child education across the country. The program will be unveiled during the International Conference on Girl-Child Education, scheduled for October 10-11, 2024, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
GICEVA aims to mobilize National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and Community Development Service (CDS) groups as volunteers to promote girl-child enrollment in local communities throughout Nigeria.
Dr. Ebenezer Leo, head of the NGF’s education department, highlighted the grassroots nature of the initiative, emphasizing its role in tackling the challenges of girl-child education.
“By engaging youth corps members, we aim to create a widespread network of advocates who can drive change at the community level,” he stated.
