Fubara and Douye Diri Explore Collaboration Between Rivers and Bayelsa for Development
Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara urged his Bayelsa State counterpart, Governor Douye Diri, to strengthen the BRACE Commission, an initiative aimed at addressing security and developmental challenges in the South-South geopolitical zone.
The governors were meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, during a Christmas visit by Diri and his delegation.
Fubara highlighted that efforts from only Rivers and Bayelsa States would be ineffective unless the BRACE Commission effectively established a cohesive strategy involving all six states in the region.
“One assignment I would plead with our leader, the governor, to do is to strengthen the BRACE Commission,” Fubara stated. “The BRACE Commission has the interest of our zone.
So we can’t talk about resolving crime alone in Rivers State because if you do that, they might run to Akwa Ibom in day time and return in the night.”
Fubara emphasized that achieving regional peace and development required synergy across the six states, noting that the commission was the ideal platform for resolving shared challenges.
