Fishermen Hunt Down Hippopotamus That Killed Security Guard in Kebbi
Yauri Local Government Area Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Shu’aibu, confirmed that the fishermen acted on the orders of the Emir following recent tragic incidents involving the hippopotamus.
“As you may remember, the hippo was responsible for the deaths of a security guard and a farmer in September,” he said. “We couldn’t allow such a dangerous animal to continue living near people.
The victims were not provoking the animal; they were just going about their regular activities.”Once the fishermen successfully killed the hippopotamus, they transported it on a large canoe to the palace of the District Head of Gungu, Alhaji Kasimu Aliyu.
The crowd cheered as the fishermen arrived. The hippo was then butchered, and the meat was shared among the local community, finally bringing an end to the threat the animal had posed.
