Federal Government Starts Process to Insure Aircraft of Nigerian Airlines
The Nigerian government has revealed plans to insure all locally operated aircraft in the country.Speaking on the matter, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, explained that the initiative is part of the federal government’s strategy to meet international aviation standards and attract foreign investment into the sector.
During a meeting with industry stakeholders, Keyamo mentioned that the Vice President has already instructed the Ministry of Aviation to begin implementing the plan.He further emphasized that the Vice President highlighted the importance of ensuring that all Nigerian airlines are properly insured.
Keyamo also noted that insuring local airlines would foster a more conducive environment for business within the aviation sector.He added, “We had a productive discussion, and I appreciate the support and guidance provided by the leadership of the National Assembly on insurance. They were present and gave valuable insights into their thoughts on the matter.
“”The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) also expressed their views, and it seems we’re starting to reach a mutual understanding,” the Minister concluded.
