Ex-President Buhari Shares Message to Nigerians for Christmas and New Year Celebrations
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a heartfelt message to Nigerians as the nation prepares to celebrate Christmas and usher in the New Year.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Buhari expressed deep sorrow over the recent stampede tragedies in Oyo State, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Anambra State, which claimed numerous lives.
He extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and sympathized with the affected state leaders—Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Buhari urged them to convey his support and sympathy to the grieving families and friends of the victims, as well as prayers for the recovery of those injured.
The former president also expressed solidarity with the Catholic community, which was impacted by one of the tragic incidents.
As the holiday season approaches, Buhari wished Nigerians a joyful Christmas and encouraged them to reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ. He concluded with a New Year message, expressing hope for prosperity, peace, and good health for all citizens in 2025.
The statement was signed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu.
