Emir Sanusi Addresses Palace Closure, Shares Message with Residents
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has addressed the recent blockade of his palace by security forces, urging residents to remain calm and peaceful despite the incident.
Reports indicate that security operatives, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), sealed off the Gidan Rumfa Palace, restricting movement in and out of the premises.
While the Kano State Government has blamed the Federal Government for the action, no official explanation has been provided by the agencies involved.
Speculation links the blockade to the appointment of Munir Sanusi as the District Head of Bichi or discussions on proposed tax reform bills.
Speaking to a delegation from Bichi, the Emir described the incident as a mere distraction and assured residents it would not derail their plans. He promised to reschedule the official installation of the District Head of Bichi and called for patience and prayers.
“This incident is only a distraction. We still do not know the reason behind it, as those responsible have not explained their actions. However, it will not stop anything,” he stated.
Sanusi urged residents to avoid any actions that could disrupt public peace, emphasizing the importance of maintaining calm and focusing on prayer.
Reflecting on his deep connection to Bichi, the Emir fondly described the area as his second home, recounting fond memories of spending vacations there and praising its residents as peace-loving and well-educated.
