Election Tribunal: Peter Obi’sLead Lawyer Reacts As Court Warn towards Technicalities
It’s not new that the extremely anticipated listening to of the presidential election petition tribunal begins its sitting as we speak in Abuja.
It could be recalled that the 2 important opposition parties, the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party are challenging the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress as the winner of February 25th poll.
Inline with Vanguard Newspaper, The Presidential Election Petition Court, held its inaugural session with a five-member panel of Justices of the Court of Appeal.
At the commencement of the sitting, Presiding Justice, Tsammani, urged lawyers representing all the petitioners to avoid sensational comments, stressing that the court would not tolerate time-wasting tactics and technicalities.
Reacting over the opening remark, Dr Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, who is representing the Labour Party and its candidate, Mr Peter Obi, noted that the petitions were of great public interest. Livy said “At the end of the day, I am very confident that the petitions will impact on Nigeria’s jurisprudence and constitutionalism”. Vanguard Newspaper quoted Obi’s lead lawyer as saying.
