In a recent interview with The Sun, Busola expressed her shock after reading an academic paper that wrongly accused her father of being involved in the Asaba Massacre.
She firmly denied this claim, explaining that her father’s unit, the Third Marine Commando, was responsible for liberating parts of the Midwest and Eastern regions during the war.
However, the operation in Asaba was carried out by a different military division. She further stated: “I was stunned when I came across an article in the Wilberforce Journal, written by Idris Rilwan Tosho from the University of Ilorin, which falsely held my late father accountable for the ‘Asaba Massacre.’
The article used this fabricated involvement to portray my father as being ‘brutal’ during the conflict.”
