BREAKING: Wike Supporters Launch New Effort to Halt Rivers LG Election, Stage Protest
Supporters of Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have staged a protest against Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara’s decision to proceed with local government elections, despite a Federal High Court ruling that nullified the polls.
According to POLITICS NIGERIA, the protesters included leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who urged Governor Fubara to respect the court’s ruling, raising concerns about the credibility of the election process.
Meanwhile, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also assembled at their party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, preparing for a protest of their own.
In a related development, the police announced on Friday that they would not participate in overseeing the election.
