Breaking: Phyna’s Sister, Ruth Otabor, Dies Weeks After Accident

The Otabor family has announced the death of Ruth Otabor, younger sister to Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna.

Ruth, a recent graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, died on Sunday morning, August 31, 2025, weeks after surviving a serious accident that left her critically injured.

Her passing was confirmed in a statement issued by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the family.

“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs,” the statement read.

Ruth had been hospitalized since August 13, after a Dangote truck accident near Auchi Polytechnic crushed her leg. She underwent an amputation but remained in fragile condition until her death.

The family has requested privacy as they grieve, noting that funeral arrangements will be communicated at a later date.

Her death has drawn widespread sympathy, with fans and well-wishers expressing condolences to Phyna and her family on social media.
