Bomb Blast: Farmer Returning from Farm Killed in Niger
A farmer, Isyaku Gambo, lost his life in a bomb explosion on Saturday around Basaa in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The tragedy occurred when Gambo, riding a motorcycle, accidentally stepped on an explosive device planted by suspected terrorists along the road between Unguwan-Usman village and Bassa. The incident happened at approximately 3 pm while he was transporting farm produce to Bassa.
Eyewitnesses described the devastating impact, noting that the explosion shattered the victim’s body.
“This is the first time we are experiencing this, and it is believed that the explosive device was planted by terrorists,” a source stated.
Efforts to reach the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, for confirmation were unsuccessful as of the time of the report.
The attack has heightened concerns about safety in the region, which has faced ongoing challenges from banditry and terrorism.
