Aviation unions announce 2-day warning strike
Aviation staff’ unions will embark on a two-day strike from Monday over the alleged failure to implement the circumstances of the service settlement between the union and a few aviation businesses.
That is contained in a press release issued and signed by officers of the Nationwide Union of Air Transport Staff, Air Transport Companies Senior Employees Affiliation of Nigeria, and Affiliation of Nigeria Aviation Professionals.
Others are the Nationwide Affiliation of Plane Pilots and Engineers and the Amalgamated Union of Public Company Civil Service Technical and Recreation Companies.
If their calls for usually are not met, the unions have threatened an indefinite strike following the two-day warning strike.
“Our unions issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Honourable Minister of Aviation and particular aviation parastatals on Feb. 7, over non-implementation of minimal wage consequential changes and arrears for the Nigeria Meteorological Company (NiMet ).
“…additionally, the refusal of the Earnings & Wages Fee and Workplace of the Head of Service of the Federation to launch the reviewed Situation of Service of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) and Nigerian Meteorological Company (NiMET).
“Additionally deliberate demolition train of aviation company buildings in Lagos by the Minister of Aviation for an airport metropolis mission has been strongly resisted by our union however the ministry stays adamant so we’re commencing the warning strike,” the union mentioned.
The aviation union urged its members to adjust to the directive including that its state councils, branches and executives implement the directive with out compromise.
