Atiku Abubakar Responds to Tanker Explosion in Jigawa State That Left 105 Dead and 55 Injured
Former Vice President of Nigeria and 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has responded to the tragic tanker explosion in Jigawa State that resulted in numerous fatalities.
The explosion occurred in the Taura Local Government Area and has claimed the lives of at least 105 individuals.Shiisu Adam, the Public Relations Officer for the state Police Command, reported, “As of now, the death toll stands at around 105, with 55 others injured.”
In light of the incident, Atiku Abubakar expressed his sorrow over the news. In a post on his official X account on Wednesday, he emphasized the need to find alternative methods for transporting petroleum products across the country.
He also highlighted the importance of providing training for drivers involved in the transportation of hazardous materials. In his statement, Atiku wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the reports of many lives lost in the petrol tanker explosion in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
This tragic incident is yet another reminder of the dangers associated with petrol tanker explosions in our nation. It’s time we consider alternative transportation methods, such as rail, for moving petroleum products.”
