Assembly Increases Makinde’s 2025 Appropriation Bill by N6 Billion
The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved a ₦6 billion increase to Governor Seyi Makinde’s 2025 budget proposal, raising it from ₦678 billion to ₦684 billion.
The adjustment was made after the House Committee on Finance, Appropriation, and State Economic Planning presented its report during a plenary session on Wednesday.
Governor Makinde initially proposed a budget of ₦678,086,767,332.18 in November 2024. However, following deliberations, the legislature endorsed a revised total of ₦684,149,398,399.06.
Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, explained that the increase was necessary to accommodate emerging priorities and critical projects, particularly those aimed at stimulating economic growth, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
The revised budget is expected to focus on vital areas such as economic development, infrastructure enhancement, and the delivery of essential public services. This adjustment reflects the state’s commitment to addressing pressing developmental needs while aligning with its long-term social and economic goals.
