Army Chief Taoreed Lagbaja Updates Tinubu on His Health Condition
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, spoke with President Bola Tinubu yesterday to personally reassure him about his health, dispelling rumors of his death. According to a report by *ThisDay*, a source from Defence Headquarters revealed that the president was relieved to hear from Lagbaja directly and prayed for his speedy recovery.
The Nigerian Army has strongly refuted the false reports of Lagbaja’s death, calling them fake news. *ThisDay* noted that the rumors began after former presidential aide Jackson Ude alleged that the army chief had passed away from cancer.
In response, the Army’s Director of Public Relations, Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, confirmed that Lagbaja is alive and recovering well after traveling abroad for a routine medical check-up.Nwachukwu also emphasized that the Nigerian Army remains fully operational, with Lagbaja’s deputies handling daily responsibilities in his absence.
Furthermore, the pro-Tinubu group, Renewed Hope Agenda The Way Forward (RHATWF), urged Nigerians to dismiss the false rumors, describing them as malicious and baseless.
