Appointments: South East Is Part Of Nigeria; We Need To Be Brought To The Centre – Jerry Ugokwe
A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Jerry Ugokwe, has said that President Bola Tinubu shouldn’t forget the South East region when it’s time for him to make more appointments of personalities that will serve in his administration.
While speaking in an interview with Arise TV, he said that the South East is also part of Nigeria, adding that the president shouldn’t forget to bring the region to the centre.
Recall that Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto reacted to the recent appointments made by President Tinubu, urging him to make appointments that will unify the country. Ugokwe was asked to react to Bishop Kukah’s assessment of the appointments so far and reveal if it is too early for Nigerians to expect appointments that will reflect federal character.
While reacting to this, Ugokwe said that he expects other zones to benefit from Tinubu’s administration in a few days. He also urged Tinubu not to neglect the South East, adding that the region is also part of Nigeria.
“In the next appointments, you will expect other zones to naturally come into play like the South East. I come from there and I expect that because there have been a lot of agitations that we didn’t deliver to APC. But the South East is a critical part of Nigeria and when the president is making announcements of other appointments, he should remember that a place like South East needs to be brought to the centre of what is going on.”
