APC Chieftain Warns Tinubu: Be Wary of Kwankwaso as He Seeks Alliance Due to Rift with Top Allies.
Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, an APC chieftain and former Commissioner for Rural Development, has advised President Bola Tinubu to remain cautious and not get involved in the internal crisis of the Kwankwasiyya Movement. This warning comes after a recent meeting between Tinubu and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya group, which Kwankwaso reportedly initiated.
In a statement, Musa Illiyasu expressed distrust toward Kwankwaso, noting that the meeting was kept low-profile, with no photos allowed at the Presidential Villa, which he found suspicious. He claimed that Kwankwaso sought Tinubu’s support because key allies such as SSG Bichi, Rirum, Madakin Gini, and Senator Kawu Sumaila—figures pivotal to the NNPP’s 2023 electoral victory in Kano—are distancing themselves from him.
Illiyasu argued that Kwankwaso’s move showed desperation as he is losing influence and urged President Tinubu to be wary of Kwankwaso’s intentions. He emphasized that the internal struggles within the Kwankwasiyya Movement could benefit the APC in the 2027 elections and should be seen as a strategic advantage rather than a situation warranting concern or intervention.
