Amaechi Says He Told President Tinubu in Yola That He Would Neither Work for Nor Vote for Him

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed that he informed President Bola Tinubu before the elections that he would neither support nor vote for him.
At a recent event, Amaechi stated, “Let me make it clear to those of you staying here. I met President Tinubu in Yola and I told him I will not work for you and I will not vote for you. I told him in advance.”
He stressed that his stance was never hidden, adding, “Why I’m saying this is because people in Rivers State have been writing he didn’t work for APC, he didn’t support Tinubu. I told him in advance before the election, so it wasn’t a matter of whether I did or not. I made him know that because I was convinced that there was an issue of capacity.”
Amaechi went on to criticize the political elite, accusing them of exploiting ordinary Nigerians. “It’s a conspiracy of the elites. You know, when we sit here, we look at what is the best way to go to grab power. We don’t care for you. No Nigerian leader cares for you.”
He also lamented the general apathy among Nigerians and described the society as “absolutely a do-nothing society.” He pointed out the futility of protests, saying, “You protested. At the end of the protest, the president announced increase in price of fuel because you will do nothing.”
In closing, Amaechi urged for genuine progress, stating, “For Christ’s sake, it’s about moving the country forward. If you’re not ashamed, I’m ashamed.”
