Afegbua – Senators From South-East Scored 40,000 Votes; They Gave Their Candidate 2000 Votes
A former Commissioner for Information in Edo State, Kassim Afegbua, has presented his argument on why the seat of the Senate President should not be zoned to the South-East; as he revealed how Senators-elect in the region emerged by scoring 40,000-42,000 votes, but could not deliver their respective States for their candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu of the
Afegbua had said, “It is very strategic in terms of the support the zone (South-South) gave to Bola Ahmed Asiwaju, knowing fully well that the South-South has always been the stronghold of the PDP in southern part of the country. There are too many conspiracies and i am not shy in saying this, because those who emerged Senators from the South-East zone, emerged by scoring as much as 40,000 votes, 42,000 votes and thereabout; while they were giving their own candidate (Tinubu) 2000 votes, 6000 votes as the case may be.”

Afegbua, who appeared on Arise Television, insisted that Senators from the South-East should not be agitating for the seat of the Senate President since the region has produced candidates for the seat in the past. According to him, the region should be agitating for the seat of the President. He also mentioned that unlike Senators-elect from the South-East, who could not deliver their respective States for Tinubu, the South-South supported the former Lagos governor during the conduct of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election.
Afegbua said South-South allowed the ruling party to win even though the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has always won in the region. He insisted that it is only fair that the region be compensated for its support.
