Adeboye Defends Rolls Royce Gift to Oyedepo, Says Bishops Shouldn’t Suffer Hunger

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has addressed the criticism surrounding the gift of a Rolls Royce to Bishop David Oyedepo on his 70th birthday. Critics questioned the lavishness, suggesting it conflicted with spiritual values.

In response, Adeboye defended the gesture, emphasizing that clergy members should not be expected to live in poverty. In a viral video, he said, “If you die poor, they will blame you. They will ask, after all your service to God, is this how you end? If you live in abundance, they will also attack you. So, which do you choose?”

Adeboye highlighted the reality that no matter one’s financial situation, there will always be criticism, and he urged people to focus on their service to God without being swayed by public opinion.
