Adamawa gov-elect Ahmadu Fintiri receives Certificates of Return from INEC
The INEC has issued the certificates of return to the winner of the Adamawa state governorship election, Ahmadu Fintiri.
After an inconclusive process on the primary poll, Ahmadu Fintiri was declared winner of the supplementary election that was almost truncated by the actions of the resident electoral commissioner.
A cheerful Ahmadu Fintiri receives his certificates of return, validating his re-election as Governor of Adamawa State.
He was declared winner of the supplementary election after greater than 48 hours of confusion and uncertainty brought on by the state resident electoral commissioner who illegally usurped the powers of the returning officer within the state.
The Governor acknowledges that this experience was a tough one and certainly INEC has demonstrated its dedication to strengthening democracy in the country.
He additionally apologised for the focused attacks on INEC National Commissioners in the state.
The duly elected governor however insists the resident electoral commissioner whose motion almost jeopardised the conclusion of the governorship election ought to be prosecuted, alongside the state commissioner of Police.
Governor Fintiri received the supplementary election with 4 hundred and thirty thousand eight hundred and sixty one votes , to defeat his closest challenger, Aisha Dahiru Binani who polled 300 and ninety eight thousand, seven hundred and eighty eight votes .
