2027: Why Apc Fears Governor Seyi Makinde – Hon. Dare Adeleke

Hon. Dare Adeleke, the Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State and Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Federal Constituency Matters, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is becoming increasingly uneasy about Governor Seyi Makinde’s growing political clout ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a weekend interview, Adeleke argued that recent statements from APC members criticizing Makinde’s potential bid for the presidency are rooted in fear and anxiety within the ruling party.

According to Tribune, he said, “The APC fears what a Makinde presidency would mean for their failing administration,” adding, “They know he represents competence and progress, while they continue to push a regime that has brought hardship, poverty, and insecurity.”

Adeleke praised Makinde’s governance in Oyo State, pointing to major accomplishments in infrastructure, transportation, education, prompt salary payments, agriculture, healthcare, and security. These, he said, set Makinde apart as a capable leader who has delivered results without noise or empty promises.

He compared this with the APC government under President Bola Tinubu, which he described as lacking direction and responsible for worsening inflation and hunger across the country.

“Governor Makinde is young, dynamic, and intellectually grounded. His administration is about substance, not empty slogans or media propaganda,” Adeleke stated.

He emphasized that the governor has earned public trust and admiration through his performance, making him a formidable candidate if he chooses to run in 2027.

“The people are wiser now, and they know leadership that works. If Makinde runs, it will not be a walk in the park for APC,” he concluded.
