Afrobeat Star Seun Kuti Releases ‘Stand Well Well’ – A Powerful Commentary on Today’s Society
Grammy-nominated Afrobeat star Seun Kuti, alongside his band Egypt 80, has just dropped their latest single, “Stand Well Well,” now streaming on all major platforms.
Inspired by Aldous Huxley’s dystopian novel Brave New World, the track takes aim at modern society’s culture of conformity and the power structures that govern it.
Seun Kuti’s passionate vocals are amplified by a stirring trumpet solo from his nephew, Made Kuti, a rising Afrobeat artist in his own right.
“Stand Well Well” marks the third release from Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s forthcoming album Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head), slated for release on October 4th through Record Kicks.
Following the success of previous singles “Dey” featuring Damian Marley and “T.O.P.,” the new track reinforces Kuti’s legacy of fearless social critique through music.
Commenting on the inspiration behind the song, Kuti notes, “The world today feels like Brave New World, with everything starting to look the same.”
With its powerful rhythms and sharp social commentary, “Stand Well Well” continues Seun Kuti’s tradition of using music as a tool for activism and reflection.
