Wizkid Teases Upcoming Album with Snippet of New Track Featuring Brent Faiyaz
Nigerian music sensation Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, has previewed a new single titled “Piece of My Heart,” featuring US singer Brent Faiyaz. He shared a video on Tuesday announcing the track, which is part of his upcoming album, “Morayo,” named after his mother’s middle name.
Wizkid expressed his excitement on social media, stating, “Wizkid x Brent Faiyaz! Piece of my heart! Morayo! ❤️ days away!!” This new release follows his recent EP, “Soundman,” which included collaborations with artists like Zlatan Ibile and Wande Coal.
Notably, Wizkid has clarified that “Morayo” is not an Afrobeats album, declaring, “I am not an Afrobeats artist. Don’t call me that,” and encouraging fans who expect Afrobeats to refrain from downloading his album. The exact release date for “Morayo” has yet to be announced.
Wizkid, who was born on July 16, 1990, in Surulere, Nigeria, rose to fame with his debut album “Superstar” in 2011. He has since released four more albums, including “Ayo,” “Sound From The Other Side,” “Made In Lagos,” and “More Love, Less Ego.” He gained international acclaim, winning a Grammy Award in 2021 for his collaboration with Beyoncé on “Brown Skin Girl.”
Wizkid’s late mother, Jane Morayo, who passed away, is remembered by her husband Muniru Olatunji Balogun and their four children, including Wizkid.
