UNIZIK Student Claims She Didn’t Know Man She Confronted Was a Lecturer
Precious Mbakwe, a third-year student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), has shared her side of the story following a viral video showing her in an altercation with Chukwudu Okoye, a lecturer from the Department of Theatre Arts.
Mbakwe explained that she was recording a video when someone pushed her and said, “Excuse me.” Believing it was another student, she was shocked to realize it was a man she didn’t recognize, who later turned out to be a lecturer.
According to her, Okoye then tried to grab her phone, leading to a struggle that resulted in her phone falling and breaking. She also alleged that during the scuffle, he grabbed her inappropriately, prompting her to bite him to free herself.
In the viral video, Mbakwe is seen confronting Okoye, tearing part of his shirt. Photos circulating online show bite marks on Okoye’s arms and him receiving medical attention, reportedly at the university clinic.
Following the incident, Mbakwe claimed she felt unsafe as students from the Theatre Arts department allegedly approached her with weapons, leaving her feeling frightened and hurt.
