UNIZIK Expels Female Student After Viral Clash with Lecturer
Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has expelled a female student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, after a viral video showed her assaulting a lecturer on campus.
The incident, which took place in the Department of Theatre Arts, involved an altercation between Precious and Dr. Chukwudi Okoye. Precious was filming a TikTok video along a corridor when Dr. Okoye attempted to pass. He lightly tapped her on the shoulder to get through, which upset her.
In the video, Precious turned in frustration, exclaiming, “Imagine! Why would he touch me like that?” The situation escalated when the lecturer overheard her remark and returned to address her reaction. Precious then accused him of hitting her, dragged him in front of onlookers, and allegedly bit him on the wrist and arm. Throughout the altercation, Dr. Okoye remained composed.
Following the incident, the university launched an investigation, and the Student Disciplinary Committee reviewed the case. In an official statement signed by the acting Registrar, Victor I. Modebelu, the university confirmed that Precious was found guilty of gross misconduct and violation of student disciplinary regulations.
As a result, the acting Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the University Senate, approved her immediate expulsion. The statement, dated February 13, 2025, also instructed her to vacate the school premises without delay.
