Terry G Responds to 'Pass Me Your Love' Controversy, Denies Stealing Credit

Nigerian singer and producer Terry G has publicly addressed long-standing claims that he stole credit for the hit track Pass Me Your Love, originally released by fellow artist AY.Com.

In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Terry G dismissed the accusations as baseless, asserting that he had every right to perform the song as a featured collaborator.

“To those saying I stole ‘Pass Me Your Love’ from AY.Com— that’s pure ignorance,” he wrote. “So I don’t have the right to perform a song I collaborated on? Your favourite artists do it all the time, but when it’s me, it becomes a problem. Hypocrisy at its finest.”

The controversy, which has resurfaced years after the song’s release, centers on claims that Terry G presented the track at events as though it were solely his, despite being a featured act. Critics accused him of overshadowing AY.Com, the original creator.

Terry G clarified that Pass Me Your Love was never included in any of his albums and emphasized that the issue was about collaboration, not ownership. He also alleged that public backlash contributed to the decline of AY.Com’s career.

“Some of you ruined AY’s moment with your noise, not me. As for my shine, nobody can block it. You no reach,” he added.

Pass Me Your Love remains one of the defining Afrobeats hits of the late 2000s, and the renewed debate has stirred fresh discussions on artist collaboration and recognition in the Nigerian music industry.
