“Pregnancy Affected My Vocal Range” – Tiwa Savage Opens Up

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has revealed how pregnancy challenged her vocal abilities during the recording of her R.E.D album, describing the experience as both physically and emotionally exhausting.
Speaking on Afrobeats Intelligence, the award-winning singer said,
“I was pregnant when I recorded ‘R.E.D’. I would be in the studio crying with my big belly. It was a struggle to record the album.”
She shared that the changes in her body affected her ability to hit certain notes, forcing her to adjust the key of several tracks.
“I changed the key of some of the songs in the album because being pregnant affected how I could hit some notes,” she explained.
Tiwa also recalled her time at Mavin Records, where she was the first female artist on the label to experience pregnancy. She praised Don Jazzy and the team for their support.
“I was the first person to have a baby in Mavin. So whenever they noticed my energy going down, Jazzy would tell them to get me my cravings, which were eggs and bread,” she said with a smile.
Tiwa Savage joined Mavin Records in 2012 and stayed until 2019 before signing with Universal Music Group.
