Papa Show Speaks Out On Career Setback After On-Set Altercation

Yoruba film actor Olamilekan Shoneye, popularly known as Papa Show, has spoken candidly about a past incident that caused a significant downturn in both his acting career and business life.

In an interview shared on Mtec TV’s official YouTube channel, Papa Show recounted how an altercation with a fellow actress during a movie shoot marked the beginning of a rough chapter in his life. Since that confrontation, he noted, his career opportunities have declined, and many of his business dealings have dried up.

According to him, the biggest mistake he made was remaining silent after the incident. “I have never beaten my wife before, and she was surprised when she heard what had happened,” he said, stressing that the situation spiraled out of control because he didn’t share his side of the story. He believes his silence allowed false narratives to spread, with people unfairly labeling him as someone who assaults women. This, in turn, caused several business partners to distance themselves from him.

Papa Show, who describes himself as a naturally private individual, revealed that the fallout has been emotionally painful, especially as people who didn’t know the full context began to judge him.

He also recalled how an actress living abroad messaged him after years away, calling him a “woman beater.” However, after he explained the full story, she apologized for jumping to conclusions.

The actor acknowledged that veteran actor Femi Adebayo had advised him to come forward and defend himself publicly, but he ignored the advice at the time. “Femi Adebayo warned me to go out and tell my own side of the story, but I refused to listen to him, but I have learnt my lesson now,” he stated.

Papa Show now hopes that by opening up, others can learn from his experience: speak out when necessary and never let silence shape your story for you.
