Oxlade: ‘I Started Singing Before I Could Speak’

Nigerian singer Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, known as Oxlade, recently shared an interesting aspect of his musical journey during an appearance on the 90s Babies podcast.
He revealed that, according to his parents, he started singing before he could even speak. “My parents said I was singing before I could talk,” Oxlade recounted. “I was able to sing long before I could form words.” This early love for music, he believes, has been instrumental in shaping his successful career.
Oxlade, who hails from Lagos, has gained international fame for his distinctive sound and powerful voice, with popular tracks like “Away” and “Ojuju.” He attributes his ongoing success to the passion for music that began in his childhood.
