Lalude: We Were Wrongly Accused of Killing a Rich Farmer on a Movie Set
Veteran Yoruba actor Fatai Lalude has shared some of the challenges he has encountered in his acting career, including a time when he and his colleagues were wrongly accused of murder while filming in a village.
During an interview on Feelrightnews TV, Lalude recounted how a wealthy farmer in the village, known for his large farmland, was brutally attacked and killed with a machete. The attacker fled, unaware that a woman had witnessed the crime.
According to Lalude, suspicion initially fell on him and his fellow actors because they were present in the village for a movie shoot. He recalled, “I and some other actors were accused of killing a rich farmer when we were on a movie set.”
Fortunately, the eyewitness confided in her father, who reported the true culprit to the authorities. The police later arrested the real murderer, clearing Lalude and his colleagues of any wrongdoing. “The police took him away, and that was how God saved us from an incident we knew nothing about,” he added.
