I Don't Have Vision, I'm Completely Blind, I Can't See Anything And That's Totally Alright" – Cobhams Asuquo

Renowned Nigerian musician and producer, Cobhams Asuquo, has openly shared details about his blindness, shedding light on how he perceives and accepts his condition with strength and clarity.

In an interview featured on the official YouTube channel of Hip TV, Cobhams clarified that he isn’t just visually impaired—he is completely blind and has no vision whatsoever. Speaking candidly, he said, “I think my being blind might have a thing or two to do with it, and I am comfortable with the term blind.”

He went on to distinguish between the terms “impaired” and “blind,” explaining that “impaired” implies partial limitation, not total loss. He said, “Sometimes we say impaired, and I think impaired is something great, but my understanding of impairment is that it’s a weakness and it’s not a complete absence of something, so if someone is impaired, it means the person is unable to fully function in that capacity.”

Emphasizing his own reality, he added, “I don’t have vision, I’m completely blind, I can’t see anything, and that’s totally alright.” His message highlights not just his acceptance of his condition, but also his confidence in living fully despite it.
