Fave Speaks on Davido Collaboration and Early Discouragement from Parents
Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has shared details of her collaboration with afrobeats star Davido as well as the challenges she faced in pursuing music.
In an interview with Nancy Isime, Fave revealed that Davido personally contacted her via Instagram while finalizing his album. She said she had already recorded the track Kante months earlier before Davido expressed interest in featuring her.
“Well, I had already recorded this song before, like months before. Davido hit me up on Instagram and was like, I’m wrapping up my album and I would love you to be on it… So I sent him three songs and he picked Kante,” she explained.
Fave also disclosed that her parents initially discouraged her from pursuing music, fearing it would distract her from academics.
“As a child growing up in an African home, I get it. We have very strict parents… they kind of didn’t really let me enhance my writing and singing abilities because they felt like this would distract me in school,” she said.
Despite this, Fave continued writing songs and poems on her own, noting that music has always been a central part of her life and creative expression.
