Fave Hints at Debut Album, Reveals Dream Collaborations
Nigerian singer and songwriter Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has confirmed that her debut studio album is in the works and set for release next year.
In a recent interview with Emmanuel Taymesan, the 25-year-old rising star opened up about her aspirations for the project and the artists she hopes to collaborate with.
“I’m really looking forward to putting out my first album next year. So I’m hoping that I can collaborate with Burna Boy. That would be so amazing. Very, very amazing,” Fave said.
She also expressed a strong desire to work with Omah Lay and to reconnect musically with Olamide, also known as Baddo, with whom she already has a previous collaboration.
“I really want to do more songs with him,” she added.
On the international front, Fave mentioned British singer Lola Young as someone she greatly admires and wants to create with.
Beyond just naming dream collaborators, Fave emphasized her desire for mutual respect and genuine artistic synergy in any future features.
“I don’t want a collaboration to feel like someone is doing me a huge favour. I want it to be very symbiotic,” she explained.
“I’m just trying to work to the point where they also feel like they should collaborate with me.”
Signed to the same label as Burna Boy, Fave sees the potential for that collaboration to happen organically. Known for her rich vocals and emotionally driven music, she gained recognition with her 2022 EP and features alongside heavyweights like Davido and Olamide.
With an album on the horizon and her sights set on meaningful collaborations, Fave is gearing up for a major breakthrough in the Afrobeats scene.
