Check out the Super Falcons of Nigeria squad that would play at the Women’s World Cup 2023
Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has finalized his 23-player squad for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
Amidst concerns about how fit and well-trained the Super Falcons of Nigeria are ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the squad representing the country has been confirmed.
One player to watch out for in the squad is Onome Ebi, a former Super Falcons legend. She is about to make history by participating in her sixth global finals tournament, making her one of the few players to achieve this feat. The only other players who have accomplished this are Brazil’s Formiga and Japan’s legend Homare Sawa.
The team will be bolstered by the presence of 10 players who were instrumental in the Super Falcons’ impressive performance in the 2019 World Cup in France, including Uchenna Kanu and Desire Oparanozie. Additionally, Asisat Oshoala, a five-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year and Nigeria’s top scorer in the previous tournament will also be making her highly anticipated return to the world stage.
However, there are some omissions from the 2019 squad, as veterans Rita Chikwelu and Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene did not make the final cut for the upcoming tournament.
Goalkeepers Yetunde Balogun, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Tochukwu Oluehi
Defenders Tosin Demehin, Onome Ebi, Rofiat Imuran, Osinachi Ohale, Glory Ogbonna, Ashleigh Plumptre
Midfielders Deborah Abiodun, Halimatu Ayinde, Jennifer Echegini, Christy Ucheibe
Forwards Rasheedat Ajibade, Michelle Alozie, Gift Monday, Esther Okoronkwo, Ifeoma Onumonu, Desire Oparanozie, Francisca Ordega, Asisat Oshoala, Toni Payne
