‘Burna Boy is my favourite singer’ – says Rotimi Amaechi
Ex-Nigerian Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, declares Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, as his preferred Nigerian singer.
During an exclusive interview with ‘Arise Exclusive: Life After Public Service’, a program of Arise TV on Sunday, he said he chose Burna Boy because of his music style. Rotimi Amaechi served as the government of river state from 2007 to 2015 afterwards as minister of transportation for the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 2015 till 2022.
When asked about his love of music the former governor said, “In terms of music, I followed all of them. I followed Davido, I followed Wizkid, I followed Tiwa Savage, but Burna Boy. I’m a greater fan of Burna Boy because of the kind of music he played, and I listened to all of them, but my greatest music now is Big Baller”. The track ‘Big Baller’ is by Nigerian singer Flavour off his ‘African royalty’ album.
Burna Boy has become a fan favorite to all. The Nigerian singer has become the first Nigerian artist with the highest Grammy nominations. He has a total of ten nominations which is a record for a Nigerian. At the 66th Grammy, Burna Boy clinched a total of 4 nominations. He has also tied with Tems for the Nigerian artists with the highest Billboard Hot 100 entries.
