After Beating Speed Darlington—Portable Calls Out Anthony Joshua For Next Fight

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable is setting his sights even higher after claiming victory over Speed Darlington in their recent celebrity boxing match. Following the win, Portable boldly declared his next desired opponent: none other than former world boxing champion, Anthony Joshua.

Speaking to PUNCH Sports Extra, the “Zazuu” hitmaker said, “Now that I’ve beaten Speed Darlington, it is only Anthony Joshua I can fight now.”

The showdown took place at the Chaos In The Ring event on April 18 in Lagos, where Portable emerged victorious after Speed Darlington was unable to continue due to a shoulder injury in the second round. After the loss, Speed Darlington cried foul, accusing Portable of using supernatural means to win.

In his typical brash style, Portable responded with sarcasm: “He is saying I used juju. Yes, na juju—go find your own juju.”

Adding fuel to the post-fight buzz, Portable revealed that Grammy-winner Burna Boy gifted him N20 million following his victory—a gesture he hopes might open the door for a future music collaboration. Portable also suggested the gift may have been Burna Boy’s way of supporting him against Speed Darlington, with whom the Afro-fusion star has had past friction.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Portable has called out Anthony Joshua. Earlier this month, he challenged the heavyweight star, suggesting a fight purse of N100 million.

Having previously defeated Nollywood actor Charles Okocha in 2023, Portable is carving out a niche for himself in the emerging world of Nigerian celebrity boxing—blending music, controversy, and combat sports in a way only he can.
