Adekunle Gold Marks World Sickle Cell Day with Support Initiative for Warriors
Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold has commemorated World Sickle Cell Day by unveiling a heartfelt initiative aimed at supporting those living with the condition.
The project, called 5 Star Care, is designed to ease the health and financial burden for individuals battling sickle cell. According to Adekunle, the initiative will provide free health insurance to 1,000 sickle cell warriors in Lagos State.
Having personally experienced life with sickle cell, the singer shared that he understands the physical and emotional toll the condition can take. His goal is to help others navigate those same struggles with greater support and dignity.
“5 Star Care isn’t just an initiative, it’s a promise,” Adekunle said. “A promise to ensure that sickle cell warriors are seen, heard, and cared for. We’re starting small by providing free health insurance to 1,000 people living with sickle cell in Lagos State. But this is only the beginning.”
The initiative is a collaborative effort between Adekunle Gold, the Lagos State Ministry of Health, and the Sickle Cell Management Initiative. It reflects his continued commitment to using his platform for social impact, especially on an issue that hits close to home.
