Actor Monsuru Ijayegbemi Opens Up on Financial Struggles and Family Hardship
Veteran Yoruba actor Monsuru Ijayegbemi has shared a deeply personal story about the financial difficulties he faced in his filmmaking career, revealing that he once abandoned his home, wife, and children when he couldn’t afford to pay their house rent.
In an interview with Feelrightnews TV, Ijayegbemi recounted how a colleague disappeared with money he had borrowed to produce a movie, worsening his financial troubles. He also mentioned that after producing a movie in 2000, the marketer refused to pay him, pushing him to the brink of quitting filmmaking.
He said:
“I borrowed one of my colleagues money to produce a movie, and when it was time to collect my money from him, he absconded with the money. I produced a movie in the year 2000, and when it was sold out, the marketer did not give me any money, and from that moment, I started thinking of quitting filmmaking because I was frustrated. I ran away from the house and left my wife and kids when I couldn’t pay our house rent. I later returned to the house when my wife called me that she found a means to pay the house rent.”
