“A Woman Saw Me for the First Time, Asked for My Bank Account Number and Sent Me N20,000” – Ladi Folarin

Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Ladi Folarin, recently shared a heartwarming and unexpected encounter with a fan, illustrating the powerful connection between Nigerian actors and their admirers.
Speaking during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, Folarin revealed how his fame in the Yoruba movie industry has led to all sorts of interactions with fans — ranging from those who seek financial help to others who express appreciation with unexpected kindness, including cash gifts.
Reflecting on one memorable experience, he recalled a moment while on a film set when a woman who had never seen him in person before spotted him by the roadside.
“I can remember that while working on a movie set, I was just standing around the corner when a woman drove by. When she saw my face for the first time, she reversed and approached me. Then she asked for my account number, and I immediately gave it to her. Before I knew it, she had already sent me N20,000,” he recounted.
Folarin went on to explain that while some fans often request assistance from actors, others simply want to give back — moved by the entertainment and joy they receive from watching their favorite stars on screen.
“As an actor who has already gained prominence in the Yoruba Nollywood industry, I have several fans. Some of my fans usually demand money, while I also have some who have gifted me money on several occasions just for gracing their screens,” he said. His story highlights the emotional and sometimes generous bonds fans share with public figures in Nigeria’s vibrant film industry.
